Severe Weather Threat - January 8th-9th, 2024

Hoping no damage in PC proper.

Lynn Haven tornado moving straight at the small town of Fountain, FL. Even if it misses or dissipates, there’s a lot of residential areas that extend well outside of town.

Couple of decent looking cells back to the west if they can stay discrete and avoid being eaten by the main line. The one near Niceville has some pretty…nice…rotation on it.

Half of the school systems are closed in north Georgia. No real threat of severe weather (except a slight risk for areas east of Athens). No threat of winter weather today. If this is going to set a precedent (closing schools for every heavy rain event), it will be a long school year.
Are the winds really strong there like they were here yesterday? It may be too dangerous for the school buses to run.

Damage now being reported at the southeast edge of Marianna. Twitter/X showing significant tree damage and a semi-tuck overturned along the highway.
