Severe Weather Threat - January 8th-9th, 2024

Supercell north of Gulf Shores in Baldwin Co. seems to be consolidating with a more defined RFD wrapping around; might see a tornado try to form near Loxley soon

Intense couplet east of Pensacola.

Wow yeah I think we had a meso handoff there really quick, the couplet more toward the forward flank is nasty looking
You can actually see the old one to the west of the new one.

TOR now.

Per SPC, tornado threat increasing.

Pretty sure there's a tornado imminent south of Crestview. There was also another brief transient couplet SW of the city a minute ago.

Wicked couplet near Camden, AL.

The supercell tornado threat seems more and more isolated (cell moving toward Destin may be notable) but yeah that has the look of nonstop spinup tornado fest, not going to be a fun few hours for forecasters

While we don't have anything in the way of instability, I'm a bit surprised by the amount of thunder and lightning we're getting up here this morning.

Yeah there was a violent house-shaking CG bolt back a couple hundred yards away from the house a few hours ago here when it was 49° out, even the elevated storms are really spicy
