Severe WX Severe Weather Threat January 23-25, 2023

There's been a few houses that lost roofs and exterior walls in Pasadena, including this two story home that was almost completely destroyed. There was also a Crossfit gym housed in a metal warehouse building that was mostly flattened.
I can't pinpoint it, but something about that house says "older and weaker construction" to me. The crossfit was widespan roof and lightweight steel, again not terribly strong. I won't argue the rating; it met the criteria for EF3 it seems. Just glad it wasn't another Joplin!

Yeah I know what you mean. It definitely isn't "slam dunk" EF3, but it is a possibility. Honestly, I'm most impressed with what it did to those cars.

Got a conga line of well defined rotation along the Outer Banks.

Got a couple more cells trying to become tornadic just ahead of the QLCS

The setup that produced the deadly Sunset Beach EF3 in 2021 was very similar to today, except that one of them managed to sneak onto land.

My Dad returned from his Pensacola trip yesterday evening. He said that the storms moved through the area yesterday morning at around 2:00 A.M., and it was (in his words) "rocking and rolling" for quite some time. Other than that, though, there wasn't any damage that he could notice in his vicinity, thankfully.
