All of Cook County is currently warned so that's >5 million people. Couldn't ask for a much worse scenario than derecho + spin up tornadoes hitting a major city at night.

I guess this is easier than trying to play whack-a-mole. They had to take shelter a minute ago so there's no way they could possibly keep up with warning these spin-ups.

Surprised Midway TDWR is still working. Unfortunately GR Level 3 already won't load the volume scans back to 0243 UTC when the tornado was approaching.

VWP evolution as the line moves through is pretty neat. 1km flow jumps to 60kt at KLOT, Midway jumps to 80kt which looks to be about tornado time, may have gotten tornadic inflow on that profile
