Severe Weather 4/17/26

On a serious note, this has been a very significant event for Wisconsin. As others have noted, could make a run at the record. @CheeselandSkies you have any luck today?

I stayed home. Was exhausted after work and would have been a wild goose chase. After damaging my vehicle on Tuesday's chase (and being lucky it wasn't worse!) on top of that I just wasn't feeling it. CAMs were lukewarm at best on the potential for long-track classic supercells and it seems that was with good reason. The prefrontals that came out of Iowa and moved into Rock/Walworth Counties were and are quite blobtacular.

Seems we got a few potentially strong tornadoes but they were rather transient, with impressive couplets/TDS's lasting no more than 2-3 scans.

This is freaking amazing and legitimately made me chuckle. GIMP is goated.
I love open-source software. Usually maintained by small teams of developers that actually care, and they tend to steer clear of the "you never own it" approach that defines our garbage subscription economy.

Anyhow, off topic.

CC drop near Table Grove, IL? I can’t entirely tell
Looks like it, but I usually wait for at least three scans to come in before jumping the gun and assuming there's a tornado on the ground...

Never wanna be the boy who cried "OmG VioLENt TorNADo ON thu GROuND" when it ends up being nothing lol

A possibly tornadic circulation is coming dangerously close to the TMKE TDWR near Milwaukee, WI. If the radar doesn't update for a while after it passes, it probably wouldn't be unreasonable to assume the worst until confirmed otherwise.

EDIT: The radar survived, as it's still updating.
