Severe Weather 2026

for ref 11/17/13 ha 70ish tornadoes just that repeated alone would break texas's record

Somewhat ironic that Texas also set their record in 2015, the year that Illinois had Rochelle and with that day combined with the 6/22 outbreak among a few others, reached an above-average count of 69 but still well below this year. That year was also the start of a "Super Nino" but as far as I can tell in 2026 Texas' tornado activity has been unremarkable if not below average.

Probably due to the Super Nino, TX didn't have much in the way of TC landfalls to help the count in '15, either. TS Bill produced four, but that was it. Normally when that state gets a lot you can assume at least one Gulf TC had something to do with it, like Beulah or Harvey.
