Severe Weather 2024

California yesterday: massive uncontained wildfire, evacuate and get to lower ground
California today: Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood warnings, get to higher ground

But on a positive note, the monsoonal thunderstorms have certainly provided some much needed relief from the consistently disgusting 105+ daytime temps

There are now two major fires in my vicinity: the Line Fire and the Bridge Fire. Both are producing pyrocumulonimbus clouds and have cloaked much of my surrounding area in smoke. Downtown San Bernardino's visibility has been reduced to about two miles with ashes visible in the air due to the Line Fire, and the Bridge Fire has cloaked much of the area where I live. Here are a few photos from the Bridge Fire...

Stay safe out there please!

The Bridge Fire has exploded from about 2,000 acres at the time of writing my first post to over 34,000 acres as of now. Getting our evacuation plan together in the event we have to leave. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.
Keep us updated, hoping for the best for y'all.

Hoping for the best. Keep us posted
Thanks! The fire is now at nearly 48,000 acres, growing almost due north towards Big Pines, Wrightwood, Wildhorse Canyon and Pinon Hills. Fortunately, its eastward growth towards us has been slowed by the fire having to cross Mt. Baldy, but we'll see what happens.

Was wondering how close those were to you out there. You’re somewhat in the vicinity of the 215/15 split aren’t you? What the Bridge Fire didn’t yesterday is scary with how quickly it ran north towards Wrightwood.

We have some pretty thick smoke rolling into the SLC valley this morning from those fires down your way. Front comes through tonight and we are expecting smoke from Oregon/Idaho tomorrow. This storm rolling in should help the Idaho/Oregon fires with cooler temps and rain/snow, but it won’t do anything for those Southern California fires.

We're at the base of the Cajon Pass, essentially right smack dab in the middle between the Bridge and Line fires. Thank goodness the brutal heatwave is finally over, so hopefully that helps with the efforts to fight the fires. Unfortunately, the Bridge Fire did make it to Wrightwood and has destroyed some homes there, and is still at 0% containment.

So the current WPC Day 3 Excessive Rainfall Outlook looks like a person sitting and taking a poop. LOL!
