I support efforts to expose North Korean civilians to culture and life outside NK through smuggled in media, tv, movies, etc.. as has been ongoing and working well towards persuading brainwashed citizens that their reality is a hoax. Meanwhile sabotage the NK military attempts at nuclearizing a ballistics missile and advances in offensive capabilities. We're more than half a century ahead of them on warfare technology. We should continue our focus on improving on our defensive capabilities. A civilian coupe in NK may be an alternative possibility, but it would likely kill many people and runs the risk of nuclear civil war. There's no clear winner with any option. I think sabotage and isolation is the best option but we're really just kicking the stone further down the road. Thoughts?

I don't think anyone supports wiping out the country, but it is to the point where a focused military strike is the only logical option. I'm sure we know several key locations where bombs & rockets are manufactured and launched, and we need to drop bombs on those places. It won't happen but striking the presidential palace and any other known places Kim Jong Un is known to reside should be considered as well.

Unfortunately there will be casualties, but I have no doubt in my mind this guy will kill as many Japanese or American people as he possibly can. Of course, that is assuming they can actually hit a target but it isn't a chance I am willing to take.

I don't know if we'll ever get China's blessing, but China is upset over the nuclear test.

I actually suspect China is losing what control it had over the young leader. If that degrades I suspect you see China take more of an active role especially with assets already in the country that could be poised to take him out. Nobody in that area or the US wants a war and to be quite honest I think China has had about enough.

China has been warning them for years. I think it is about time for China to stop warning them and put something into action. I think the best way forward if for China to take the lead on this. Do you think Korea's will come back together like Germany did?

China likely won't lead anything unfortunately, because they don't want a refugee crisis.

To be honest I fully expected NK to test something during Irma

They threatened reaction to UN sanctions today. The thought crossed my mind this morning that they could try something on the anniversary of 9/11...

And now this....

They have used the whole declaration of war in other statements but the threat to shoot down the bombers is a bit new. Would be one of the last things they do.

I don't see how. Military action against NK would result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands maybe millions of SK and US civilians and military personnel.

we're either going to have to deal with him proactively or reactively.

Tillerson says there are still diplomatic options, so we'll see.

I still hold out hope that China will finally get fed up with the instability he's causing and do something about it their selves (support a coup maybe?)

Agree... I think China is the key to stability. If NK were to start something that we had to react to, our action would have to be devastating since they would produce so many casualties in SK with their thousands of conventional artillery and rockets aimed at Seoul. We would effectively eliminate their power, transportation, and water systems and China would be inundated with millions of refugees fleeing for food, water, and shelter. The humanitarian crisis would be catastrophic.

It will probably come down to the United States telling China we're dropping bombs in X amount of hours, and maybe China will then do something.

White House staff telling media that Trump will make “eye-opening remarks about North Korea” during the State of the Union tonight. This should be interesting.

I missed about ten minutes of the speech near the end but I don't remember anything about NK. I suppose he's gonna drop that one on us later.

Yeah he didn’t offer any major news other than they are bad. He had a defector there and told his story of escaping NK and traveling through China on crutches. Guess I got fake news.
