Media Changes Thread

There are so many changes happening with the media landscape, especially in the United States, I thought I would create a thread where we can discuss these changes.

For example, for our Birmingham, Alabama DMA posters, WIAT 42 lost its CBS affiliation thanks to something that happened with their parent company, Nexstar.

Here in Huntsville, WAFF and WAAY are combining their news and weather resources since they are both owned now by Gray Media.

So, is WAAY laying off their staff?

One of the big advantages of having 4 stations is during severe outbreaks with multiple storms popping. They may not all be focused on the same storm at the same time, which is a good thing. Having one less channel covering storms is not a good thing.

My guess is laying off some staff and combining the rest. I honestly expect the ABC Affiliate in Huntsville to move to 48.2 Subchannel and Channel 31 go dark.
