January 30th-February 1st Winter Storm potential

We've gotten a beautiful-looking dusting here this morning west of Atlanta, though I doubt we'll get much more than that. Bands of locally enhanced convection have formed west of the city, so there may be higher totals in parts of Douglas, Fulton and Coweta Counties.

Earlier, James Spann said that areas near Gatlinburg got six inches of snow and the visitors center at Great Smoky Mountains National Park is closed today due to the winter weather.

Yep, I've seen pics. They got a big one.

Our snow has all but sublimated away already, but WHOO BOY is it cold as a monkey's behind right now.

My child lives in the mountains near Waynesville, NC (east of Gatlinburg). They woke up to 6 inches and say it's been pouring snow all day. Cataloochee Ski Area should be looking good!

Another relative in Charlotte had what looked like 4 inches at mid day. I'll get actual totals when it's over.

There is an unconfirmed report just outside Charlotte of almost a foot of snow according to Ryan Hall.

Snowing buckets in SC.

Almost every traffic cam I checked.
