In a statement, Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly proclaimed “the entry of lawful permanent residents to be in the national interest,” suggesting that green card holders and other legal residents, “absent the receipt of significant derogatory information indicating a serious threat to public safety and welfare,” would not be affected by the order.
