Severe WX January 11, 2020 Severe Weather Reports and Nowcasts

The NWS service says a Tornado is possible with the storm moving into Colbert and Lauderdale counties. It is not confirmed but if you are in the area of that storm you should take shelter.

The line passed through here ( near tupelo ms ) a little bit ago. Maybe 50 mph winds. No hail, not much lightning either, but very heavy rain.
Power flickered but never went off.
The worst of it didn't last but maybe 15 mins.

Edited to add. I'm hearing reports of some trees down and minor structure damage about 15 miles to my north ( Baldwyn ms ), but no injuries reported so far from there.

Tornado Watch just issued for Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St Clair, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties until 4 PM CST.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Colbert, Lauderdale, and Lawrence counties until 9:15 AM Tornado Possible.

Damage is being reported in Cherokee in Colbert County with trees and powerlines down.

I just noticed that yesterday the City of Good Hope in Cullman County put out that both of their sirens are out of service. This is why you need multiple ways to receive warnings.

70/66 in Jasper. South winds gusting 20-40 but completely overcast and sprinkling. Have rarely seen clouds shooting across the sky like they are right now; if thermodynamics were a little better this would be an absolutely historic day
