Assuming this is about Melissa since I can't see the embed - I am shocked there were not more deaths. Some of the NOAA imagery of the island shows homes completely gone.Literally a 20-30 mile wide EF4 tornado on steroids. What a terrible event for Jamaica.
One of those times where the hype was warranted and people clearly bought into it, which obviously saved many lives. Also the western side of Jamaica was not super densely populated in the first place iirc, the vast majority of the population missed the pristine C5 core anyways. I recall being very worried that people weren't taking it seriously since Jamaica is not used to stronger hurricanes making landfall at peak intensity. Very glad I was wrong in that regard.Assuming this is about Melissa since I can't see the embed - I am shocked there were not more deaths.
