Praying for their safety. This will be an extremely dangerous storm, and I gravely worry for anyone who has decided to stay.Uhg this makes me sick. My SO's daughter is with her other parent in Punta Gorda, and they did not evacuate even being in the red zone. Entirely side of the family lives in that house and it's not on stilts or anything. They just refused to leave because it's never been an issue before.
We've seen the surge inundation maps and wept for their safety. Wish I could've convinced them to leave but apparently they will not have it. She is basically stranded there without a car to leave on her own even if she wanted to on Monday (which she probably would have). View attachment 30746

Confirmed damage in Ft Myers per Ham radio.
that's generally the upper end of what you get out of TCs (I think there was at least one EF3 with Helene in NC)The SPC says "EF2-EF3" tornadoes are possible. Crazy.
Recon will be going through the center in the next 20-30 minutes, so we'll see if that's right. Hopefully a new Vortex Data Message incoming about 2 PM.Okay now Milton’s core has just become a mess….i’d say it’s drastically weaker now.
Ef3 killed one in august in NC also. Forget that storm name..that's generally the upper end of what you get out of TCs (I think there was at least one EF3 with Helene in NC)
The continued north movement is really starting to limit Tampa's escape opportunities.
10 miles north or south is going to mean a LOT. Do we see it going right up the Bay or is it the dreaded landfall north of town?
A more southern landfall, that extends the Tampa Bay shield mythology, seems increasingly improbable.
No, the storm surge takes a couple of days to go down once a storm reaches a peak intensity, so the storm surge will still be Cat 4/5-level storm surge.Storm surge isn’t lessening in height though is it? It’s just spreading out…
Hurricane Debby was in early AugustEf3 killed one in august in NC also. Forget that storm name..

Can't forget Beryl's impressive multi-day outbreak of 68 tornadoes.Ef3 killed one in august in NC also. Forget that storm name..
