This is why we need unmanned drones flying in between recon flights
Would be a great supplement to the manned flights for sure, and could also be used when HH deems it too dangerous to enter into the eyewall. We can replace drones but not the folks operating the planes.

This is just a crazy storm. Reminds me of Eta.
 
Here's why. This is a prime example of how the MJO going into unfavorable phases for nearly 3 weeks in mid August/early September was a bad thing. It allowed the Gulf and Caribbean to heat up even more allowing OHC (Oceanic Heat Content) at deeper levels. Helped Helene and now Milton.

This is what 2023 could have be without El Nino.
 
This has got to be the strongest ATL storm I've ever tracked since I began tracking in 2020.
 
Sounds like NHC might be issuing a new special Update soon
