Hurricane Hurricane Milton

Is there another plane headed in or in it currently still?

Milton still looking to strengthen. Really wouldn't surprise me to see him push for the upper bounds of intensity in his given environment.

925mb is stronger than Beryl in pressure! I won't be surprised (still will be at the same time) if Milton breaks 175.

What's the lowest pressure and highest winds ever recorded in the Gulf? Rita (2005) at 895mb and 180mph? Allen in 1980 hit 190mph, but that was in the Caribbean, before it got in the Gulf.

It is also

the lowest pressure in the Atlantic since Sam too.

Eye is clearing:

I believe Rita was the strongest Gulf hurricane, but Gilbert in '88 may have been one?

Gilbert hit 888, but not while in the Gulf, IIRC.

Gilbert was 180mph\888mb but I think that was also Carribean.

Rita has the highest winds (180) and lowest pressure (895) for Gulf. Camille had the highest winds (190) for the Gulf before they downgraded it.

When Milton hits the channel turbo and the loop current, I think it's game on for breaking some records. Maybe before, IDK.

These are the kinds of things when watching that you would like to see for the sake of history, but feel guilty about wanting to see it because the end result, we know, will be horrific for many.

Once current mission is done next recon mission will be 8 PM.

This is just Otis, but without the land. That's not good....

This is why we need unmanned drones flying in between recon flights
