Hawaii Volcano Kilauea

From HVO/USGS:

Kilauea Message 2026-01-19 04:21:54 HST
Seismic swarm with about 20 small earthquakes began at 2:58 AM HST and lasted for about 30-40 minutes. A smaller swarm occurred just prior to 4 PM HST yesterday. Both swarms caused minor tilt drops, but no impact to eruption or rift zones.

HVO discusses the new seismicity in this week's Volcano Watch.

Fortunately, magma migration to the East Rift appears unlikely; even if it did go there and then erupt, this layperson supposes that the eruption probably wouldn't be another 2018 (when the whole lava lake drained).

I hope we get another summit lava lake! :)

HVO did a Volcano Watch article on that. What a spectacular fountain!
