• Looks like our DeLorean hit 88 miles per hour a little too hard! A recent style update went sideways, sending us back to a retro look for a bit. We've parked that faulty future theme for now while we tinker under the hood.

I have lurked and been a part of this forum for several years. I am admittedly not smart when it comes to certain areas regarding the weather such as reading and understanding forecast soundings (my specialty is behavioral health/science). What tools would you recommend for novices regarding learning the basics of severe convection and reading and understanding soundings, etc?

NOAA and the SPC themselves have really good resources. This series I’m linking below by SPC branch chief Rich Thompson is a really good place to start. Also, feel free to ask questions on here, most of us were in your shoes once and are happy to help. Convective Chronicles on YouTube would be a good place as well.

Thank you so much! This is a good place to start.
