Fred is going to make a bee line for the beach house we're renting in September. Let's hope this is them getting their tropical activity out of the way early.

The good news is that Fred is being ripped apart. Hopefully, that will reduce the threat for the gulf.

Just on a slow ride at this point. Looking a westerly wobble in the Gulf now which basically gives the entire state of Alabama more fun.

According to the latest advisory, Fred has degenerated to an open wave. The system might become a tropical storm again over the Gulf but for now is dead.

Fred is a nearly 60mph tropical storm as he approaches the Florida Gulf Coast. He's getting his act together but I don't know if he has time to reach Hurricane strength.

I'm watching a couple of webcams this morning as Fred approaches.

Little surprised the NHC hasn’t pulled the trigger on a hurricane watch/warning for Fred. Not sure if it’ll get there or not but looks like it’ll be awfully close to if not a hurricane by landfall.

Difficult situation I imagine. It seems as though it will run out of time though it is not out of the question it could reach Cat 1.

Conditions definitely deteriorating based on footage from the St. George Island camera.

Yep, not going with the hurricane watch/warning was the right call. It making landfall a little further east helped ensure it ran out of time too.

It looks like Atlanta has escaped the worst of the forecast. Yesterday the models were saying up to 40mph wind gusts, but now most models are only showing about half that as Fred moves out.

Thankfully, the wind forecast did bust somewhat, but it's pretty clear that the flash flooding potential lived up to the expectation, unfortunately. IMBY I'm receiving a good amount of rain and some mild gusts, but downtown appears to have gotten more of both regardless.

In addition, some potent spin-up tornadoes have been occurring on the eastern side of the state and into South Carolina. Not a great way to start off the morning for them.
