Tapatalk who handles the TalkWeather App has notified us that due to a recent change in policy by Apple, they will no longer be able to support our custom application without a significant ongoing annual payment directly to Apple.
After careful review of the options offered by Tapatalk we have made the decision to announce the end of life for the TalkWeather app on Apple AND Android devices. The app will cease to exist in the Apple Store and Play Store in the coming days. You will be prompted to remove it at a later time since the app will cease to be updated.
From the admin prospective this is not the decision we wanted to make but Apple's greed over having a dedicated software developer safely build and maintain these types of apps has won out. We are not alone as there are several hundred forums that are having to make the same decision as well. I'm also told that this could have a ripple effect into app developers that build and maintain apps for tv stations as well. If Apple reverses their decision we will reconsider bringing back the app under Tapatalk.
The important thing is that we will continue to be a forum on the Tapatalk app while we explore other options for bringing back an exclusive TalkWeather app in the future. If you have any features that you would like for us to explore in the future please leave us a comment below.
