Sounds like the Eaton fire is really going at it on Mount Wilson, where there is an observatory with several very old telescopes. Yesterday there was a skeleton staff at the observatory, but I haven't heard anything about it specifically today. Since it sounds like there is active fire there, my guess is there isn't staff on-site. I hope the observatory isn't significantly damaged, but conditions aren't cooperating for fighting the fire there. According to Watch Duty: "Fixed wing air tankers are returning to bases, unable to further drop retardant due to turbulence in the fire area."

An eighth fire broke out about an hour ago in the Calabasas area. LAFD is urging everyone there to evacuate.

Eaton is up to 13,690 acres and Palisades 19,978. The Kenneth fire (the one Michelle just mentioned) seems to have started about 3 hours ago and is already 791 acres.

Just drove by. 34 acres charred, but the firefighters did a fantastic job at putting a lid on things quickly.

Look at how close the Eaton Fire came to hitting NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, that could've been even worse for this already Horrible fire, I mean, Imagine how many flammable substances are there. As if it wasn't bad enough. Luckily firefighters have saved the structures. The Eaton Fire is really horrible, eesh. Although, on the bright side the Eaton fire is now 55% Contained.
