The State Department indicated it would cut funding from U.N. Population Fund, citing concerns that it indirectly “supports, or participates in the management of, a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization" by partnering with the Chinese government. The US traditionally gives $75 million annually to the fund, which is focused on family planning as well as maternal and child health.
