Stronger 700 mb inversion than expected didn't tamper with convection but allowed it to be more discrete. It only takes one good, unfortunately memorable day in a place like Dixie.

Combine this with the fact that the LLJ was severely underplayed by most models. Taking a look at observations beforehand for that 1st TORE, it became clear there was a more discrete nature than expected and that was my gut telling me this is gonna go down.

That’s good but I’m confused because of chasers on the scene and others saying that, I just don’t understand the miss communication here.

Like Enderlin when chasers first arrive on the scene and find deceased and report it.

You even had locals from the trailer park online saying there was 100% fatalities I was there etc.

Geez I’m just too gullible I guess but This rumor mill stuff gets old.

This kind of stuff is why it's usually recommended to not trust everything that you hear in the first 24 hours of an event that hasn't been confirmed by officials on the scene.

For sure, I just thought chasers could be trusted as they’re doing S&R. Sometimes they’re right.
 
Serious damage out of a mobile home park near Brookhaven. The worst damage probably hasn't been photographed yet due to blocked roads.
 
That supercell last night is one I think we'll be talking about for a long time, especially from the forecasting perspective. One Rolling Fork-esque cell producing 2+ violent tornadoes in a 10% CIG1 during an event that had maybe seven tornadoes is almost unheard of. Four tornado emergencies during that? What an event.

Fun fact: That's exactly double the amount we have had all year. We just tripled our 2026 TOR-E count in one night.
 
One of the few damage photos I've seen from Franklin County, which unfortunately seems to have become an afterthought compared to Bogue Chitto and Purvis... but based on what we do have, doesn't seem great

A tornado was briefly OTG west of Mobile Bay a few minutes ago. Another appears to be forming now.

One thing that can contribute to larger debris balls/debris fallout seen on CC in these situations is that in South MS in the Hattiesburg/Purvis/Brookhaven area where these storms were tracking, there are a ton of pine trees out there. That region has multiple national forests and generally there's just a lot of hardwood in the area to the point where the region itself is sometimes known as the Pine Belt. Unfortunately, those two cells did appear to put tornadoes down in populated areas, leading to significant CC drops on radar, but debris balls in Dixie in general can be outsized just due to the amount of lumber available for tornadoes to pick up.
