Hurricane wise: 2000 was normal, 1975 had Eloise in an otherwise slow year, and this year had been a dud so far. December '00 was frigid basically nationwide, with '75 being cold in the east. Jan. '76 was cold in Rockies eastward, with '01 being el ninoish. Feb 76 was a Rockies-eastward torch, with 01 being classic Nina look. Spring '01 was tame in the severe department, while '76 was busy. Bottom line: I really don't know what to think, but let's hope this Dec is much cooler and quieter in the tornado department than last year...Really be a shock if it turns frigid like '00, '89, '83 or '10.

And I should add that summer of '75 was cool and wet in the SE, with '00 being cool in the NE and hot and dry in the SE. This summer was warm and soggy in the SE.
