2026 Political Thread

I'm not going to do this both sides silliness in here after the things that have been going on as of late. Not having it, ever again. I don't like Newsom either, but this is not the same.
The Democrats are currently spitting on the Constitution in California, the Republicans are doing it on the national level.

It's just "silliness" until the other party has the chance to do the same at the national level. If you want to argue that one party is the lesser evil, fine, but if you think future Democratic presidents aren't going to copycat Trump's current abuses of executive power... you have another thing coming to you.

But fair enough. I'm not going to argue, but I'm sticking to my guns.

What's this "Constitution" you speak of?

In the latest Epstein stuff, steve bannon is almost being Epstein's PR person trying to rebrand his image. Voidzillla has some very good videos breaking down the releases

If we ever get past all this mess, the conservative movement is going to need to refind its soul, do some kind of purification rite, and sit in sackcloth and ashes for a bit.

I remember when the party of "family values" was ready to impeach Bill Clinton for his indiscretions. How far we have fallen.

This, in laymen's terms, is known as FOLLOWING THE LAW.

Absolute slime ball.

Meanwhile, another Epstein client, this one in the UK, has resigned. And Poland is not messing around:

"Pedophilia in the US."

These people are our political and business leaders. Their continuing on in that position, their "riding out the scandal," smears us all.

In addition, suppose a Russian connection is uncovered and is indubitable. What next for us?

If true, very bad for the Epstein clientele -- and all of us, given the ramifications.

If not true, then very bad for Mr. Tusk and Poland -- but I think the leader of Poland is doing his job and believes this is true.

And as far as a quick look at X and the Reuters website goes, only tabloids dare to cover it:

only tabloids dare to cover it:

A later realization: A guy allegedly seen hanging around Maxwell's place is now gutting Woodward and Bernstein's old hangout.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but given all this, it chills this old Boomer's marrow. Intentional or not, it sends a message. :(

Never thought I'd be cheering the tabloids on.

And I keep thinking about Stalin's comment, basically, that if you commit a big enough crime, no one will believe it happened and you'll get away with it. :(

I've always had a dislike for politics because I'm an optimist, but goodness gracious the past 2 or 3 weeks have absolutely crushed my optimism (Namely the latest Epstien files and practically everything our president is doing).

I don't support any party. But lets hope the Dems sweep the midterms and invoke the 25th amendment (as I said, I'm an optimist). Disgusting excrement our government is doing right now.

Utterly insane and unfit to lead. Impeach and invoke the 25th Amendment, now.

>Trump finds a propaganda video about how Dominion Voting Systems allegedly stole the 2020 election
>He screen records it instead of reposting it directly
>After the "report" ends, the feed scrolls down to... whatever that video of Barack and Michelle Obama is

I'm sure Trumpists will say he did it by accident... but let's be real here. He would have just reposted the Dominion video directly if he didn't have any intention of showing off that racist Obama video.

That, or he's just very stupid and has no idea how to repost a video directly.

Either way, lol.

Perhaps it is surprise, rather than crushing.

Congratulations! We're still human.

G. K. Chesterton:

Everywhere the man who alters things begins by liking things. And the real explanation of this success of the optimistic reformer, of this failure of the pessimistic reformer, is, after all, an explanation of sufficient simplicity. It is because the optimist can look at wrong not only with indignation, but with a startled indignation. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. The Court of Chancery is indefensible—like mankind. The Inquisition is abominable—like the universe. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action. The pessimist can be enraged at wrong; but only the optimist can be surprised at it.

Optimistic action. We need it and, I think, it is coming...slowly.

The Turkey Party is much richer and better connected. But we outnumber it, and when they try to make us feel despair, it is only to distract us from our strength.

But we're going to need a better (and bottom-up) safety net. Those 16,000 layoffs at Amazon (and that tasteless "hiring" of Hemsworth for the Alexa ad -- not his fault, but A's), the gutting of the WP, etc., all points to a rocky short-term future.

But we are producers. Maybe losing our status as wage slaves en masse will bring that strength of ours to the forefront.

The latest political news seems to be the two Super Bowl halftime shows. I did not watch either. Honestly, it’s getting harder to enjoy social media as it’s endless arguing about politics. It’s sad that even the Super Bowl is political now.

The Bad Bunny show wasn't any worse than anything else in recent years. If anything, I saw patriotism, Christianity, unity and Holy Matrimony. Oh, and some ladies shaking their moneymakers. It was really much ado about nothing.

I have heard from several that an alternative show was everything they hoped it would be. This is far from the first-time alternative halftime programming has been shown. Again, much ado about nothing.

Both sides would do good to stop whining.

20 years ago, if you told me that Kid Rock would be headlining a conservative alternative Super Bowl halftime show in the future, I would’ve accused you of (to quote the aforementioned Kid) “fueling up on cocaine and whiskey”. The multiverse is weird, man.

Bad Bunny had a nice "vanilla ice cream suit" on (Ray Bradbury once wrote a non-sci-fi story about that). He gave one of his Grammy awards to the five-year-old who got real-life detention in Texas (and might be again), and his only excursion into English -- I can't follow rap in any language -- was highly acceptable: "God bless America."

Beats shooting up the congressional House floor any day!

I like Kid Rock, too.
