5/5-5-6 2026 severe threat

It wouldn't be a Talkweather severe weather thread without dozens of redundant, hyperbolic, and/or inflammatory tweets drowning out actual normal discussion by Talk Weather users. Why comment your own views and opinions when you can share those of irrelevant chasers and twitter users with zero thought or effort?

Amen. At this point I'm thinking we should just disable X posting because everytime one is posted I just see a gray box; it absolutely fills every single page. Imagine scrolling and having to read things between random gray boxes constantly.

It sometimes feels like this is a Twitter feed vs talk weather. Its harsh, but The ignore feature is good to use as well if you get those grey boxes. My view is, this is a forum, not a platform for crossposting on what the current thoughts are of WxTwitter but others may disagree.

While I don't really care too much for twitter posting I think Its good when there is either tornado photos, damage photos, or information from the NWS (especially with ratings). It's useful to see these without having to go on twitter and be exposed to all the other junk that doesn't fall into those three categories.

Discord is where I get my Twitter posts from that usually include significant damage images in the aftermath of events; I'm on this forum to discuss history and active severe weather events. Keyword discuss. It's fine to post Twitter threads showing damage but when pages are filled with them and other random things it can get hard to have a conversation.

Exactly. And also forecasts (by the experienced), storm photos, etc.

That’s good , though a lot here may not have discord. I didn’t until recently.

I'll be honest here. I couldn't care less about inflammatory posts that have no genuine reason to be in this thread and it's on X. i am seeing constant, well informed posts being drowned out because of multiple X posts in the span of q good half a hour. People spend time actually digging into these events and giving honest thoughts, one photo and one statement of "Tuesday may be very interesting " isn't gonna cut it. I like seeing threads like that of Cameron Nixon or Andrew Shearer here, because they genuinely are helpful. Whatever that whole debacle is about about "heartless comments" isn't for us on this thread to gossip about publicly. It may have relations to the event in general but we are here for damage photos, aftermath, the setup. That EMA post calling them heartless is totally irrelevant to the discussion.

And for the record, i don't support cheap forecasting jabs against @Grand Poo Bah just because they have a valid point that you've steered back to posting irrelevant information from the platform. There's meteorologists here that can give better thoughts than most could on X. there has to be a line between what should be posted from there and what shouldn't be. I hate to be the one to dive into this situation. The only problem is when irrelevant chaser opinions (most of these posts aren't even forecasts BTW, they're just genuinely chaser perspective. In fairness, Connor Croff isn't all that bad when it comes to analysis on setups occasionally, I'll give him that)

Anything from meteorologists is welcome, and any updates on damage or etc is completely welcome, but it's got to be related to the event at bare minimum. That's where I think the line is. Posts like what I said earlier with the one photo, one statement are essentially vagueposting. That is the root of most problems over on WXTwitter. Not to be harsh here or anything but I'm very sure there's also others fed up with this, so I'll be one to stand here too.

Can we quit it with the bickering now? I understand people being frustrated with embedded twitter posts, I'm not a big fan of it either, but clogging up the thread with back and forth arguing still isn't a good alternative to actual discussion..
Someone's gotta stand up and say it though. I'm the same as anybody else, i want actual, enthusiastic and thought-provoking discussion, that's why I joined this forum. I never like bringing up issues like this, because I don't want to start fuel for a fire, but to me, this is valid criticism and needed to be said.

I'll drop it now though.

Totally get what you’re saying, but I think this pops up now after every event since it’s way out of hand, and even making its way over to the Sig Tornado thread and the EF scale debate thread. The site issues (thanks for sending me that thread btw) combined with endless random Twitter posts can make it harder to load and then browse the forum during big events.

SPC issued just about the smallest Tornado Watch I've ever seen earlier this morning. Three Florida Panhandle counties. Also one of the shortest-lived I can recall, lasting two hours and ten minutes.

That wasn't directed at you (or anyone in particular, to be honest). I actually agree 100% with what you wrote.

I try to lead by example. You'll almost never see embedded tweets in my posts. Even if I find damage photos on nitter, I always embed them directly into my posts.

I'm just saying that there are plenty of other areas to discuss both personal opinions and technical issues with embedded tweets on this site, and said discussions should be kept out of active severe weather threads.

edit: fixed typo

Oh, i knew it wasn't directed at me. Just wanted to reaffirm I didn't mean anything harsh or to light arguments in here. I totally agree with you in all aspects but it really couldn't be TalkWeather without these issues happening. Disagreements are bound to happen with people on here.
