2025 Political Thread

Interesting, id like to see where this story goes.

It has been reverberating for a while. I stopped following it after a few weeks and don't have the links handy just now to back it up, but I recall reading that some Asian nations were questioning whether it is safe to invest and build in the US any more.

There is far, far too much smoke for there to be no fire with this Epstein stuff. I don't care who they take down, just take them all down, Trump included obviously. Disgusting, evil people.

As long as we're really emotional, and I wish I weren't with politics, they can distract us from America's true crisis.

As Reuters succinctly puts it:

...This shutdown also stood out for what was largely absent: debate over the $38 trillion national debt, which Congress for now leaves on a path to keep growing by about $1.8 trillion per year....

Bad leadership, of course, prefers to distract attention from its failures.

And we have been poorly led for many decades. But not even the current bull floundering around in our china shop or the clash of our ideological extremities on the Hill can change those stark facts on that ledger.

Maybe the world's first trillionaire can contribute next year's salary to help his adopted country out.

I'm so old I can remember when "millionaire" was a new word, and a controversial one at first in those days when things like avarice, gluttony, overwhelming pride, envy, etc., were preached against every Sunday (and so, in practice, kept within tolerable levels the rest of the week).

The Yuppies of Reagan's era changed all that.

That should be mentioned along with the cost of social programs when the inevitable crunch comes. It probably won't be since, right or left, their descendants now own us all through mass media as well as monetarily.

I always thought that there is no way Trump could be so dumb as to want this info released knowing there was any chance he could be implicated in anything. But, in the back of my mind, I remind myself that many of these uber rich folks feel like they're untouchable and even more so if they gain political power.

Ultimately, Trump's aim was to bring down Bill Clinton, and he might. He just might take the fall with him.

This is what should force a government shutdown. Rand Paul's failure to vote with his party was over this issue, but unfortunately no one else is standing with him right now.

A bi-partisan coalition of a couple of dozen Senators need to stand together and force a budget and paying down the debt.

Speaking of distracting attention...

I think it's pretty clear that Trump knew and collaborated with Epstein, and was even aware of his illegal activities. He's running out of places to go to hide the fact that he was involved, and eventually those files will come out.

Meanwhile we have Megyn Kelly trying to age-wash rape and pedophilia. What the actual **** man.

Also we have the NYT trying to paint a 17 year old trying to pay for her ortho work as the offender against Matt Gaetz in this absurd headline.

Oh great, holding airlines accountable for screwing over their customers is apparently a bad thing now.

I feel like the Epstein files have been one of the biggest gaslighting jobs on the Republican side / Trump Ive ever seen. Very odd.

Boggles my mind that it was a big running point for Republicans and now that there in power it's a "Democrat hoax" and your stupid you believe it fall in line. Idk maybe I'm the only one that thinks this lol

Reading between the lines, it's interesting that this Reuters article on the fuss says, at least currently, for the first time that I can recall, that Epstein "died in a jail cell" rather than following the standard mainstream journalistic practice of calling it suicide.

This MTG redemption tour is interesting to say the least.

She still believes the government controls the weather, though, so it is hard to take anything from her seriously.
