On July 17, 1987, the final bus and van carrying the kids across the river, trying to escape the ensuing flood, was hit by a wall of water.

That is actually so heartbreaking. As someone with a little brother who loves camping, I can’t even imagine how the family members of the children who have unfortunately passed are feeling. Breaks my heart.

The terrible news just keeps coming. This is a DIFFERENT flood from overnight in Texas. At least 2 dead and many missing, again.

The death toll is now 51+, making it deadlier than the March 13-16 outbreak and May 16 outbreak. Deadliest meteorological event in the US in 2025.Death toll in Kerr County is now 43, including 15 children.

This is now the third-deadliest meteorological event anywhere in 2025, only surpassed by the widely-forgotten Mokwa flood and the European heatwave (which happens yearly so I’m not 100% sure whether it counts).
