Also, good riddance to Dodd-Frank. A complete boondoggle of regulations that forced a lot of smaller banks to close down. Of course, the narrative will be "Republicans are just lining the pockets of big banks" which is not true since this watering down of Obama-era regulations doesn't pertain to the top 10 biggest banks.

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/05/...es-dodd-frank-rollback-for-smaller-banks.html

Deregulation wasn't the main cause the 2008 financial crisis. Dumb regulations were the cause.

Using the Mercatus Center at George Mason University’s RegData, we find that between 1997 and 2008 the number of financial regulatory restrictions in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) rose from approximately 40,286 restrictions to 47,494—an increase of 17.9 percent. Regulatory restrictions in Title 12 of the CFR—which regulates banking—increased 18.2 percent while the number of restrictions in Title 17—which regulates commodity futures and securities markets—increased 17.4 percent.

Pieces of filth.

According to emails obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, first reported by The Baltimore Post, advisors to then-President Barack Obama immediately strategized how to exploit the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary school to push their gun control agenda. "Tap peoples [sic] emotions," Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel advised then-Education Secretary Arne Duncan on December 16, 2012, just two days after the massacre that left 26 dead. The victims' bodies were yet to be laid to rest.

After watching all the commercials on the upcoming primary elections, I think I'll be supporting the candidates who have the least to say about Trump in their ads. So right now Battle for Gov... Alice Martin for AG... No opinion on Lt Gov. or Sec of State. I was considering Hinchman over Mo Brooks after Mo's dumb statement about falling rocks making the oceans rise, but with Hinchman's latest ads showing his love for Trump, I guess I'll hold my nose and vote for Mo. On the Dem side, I'm pulling for Maddox for gov.

Kory, they have been exploiting shootings for decades. It's part of their DNA.
Well how else are we supposed to garner support so we can implement the secret agenda to take away guns and implement socialism??

And another trump tower meeting has been revealed with Russians. Is there any doubt that something fishy is going on?

I think it is obvious to anyone that cares that access was for sale during Trump's campaign and afterwards as he entered the White House. There's also a LOT of shady stuff pertaining to Russia's campaign to meddle with the election -- including their numerous contacts with members of Trump's campaign.

But, there's a huge problem. Even if Trump himself was aware of all of this and it can be proven, the GOP has made it clear that they'll do whatever it takes to protect him. Impeachment isn't an option. I, along with a lot of other people, believed that the GOP would keep their distance from Trump and uphold their Constitutional duties once push came to shove. That doesn't appear to be the case anymore. I think that the GOP has realized they are inextricably linked to Trump no matter what, and an impeachment along with removal from office would mean that the party would be turn apart and its electoral prospects would crater for at least a decade -- if not longer. This is why we saw the DOJ meeting take place yesterday. It was all about helping Trump's defense. The GOP is going to live or die based on what happens to Trump, so they're going to do whatever it takes to keep him in power, and do whatever it takes to discredit the Mueller investigation and any other attempt to hold Trump accountable.

Compounding all of this is the Democrats inability to have a consistent message, and the inter-party battle between far-left progressives and more moderate Democrats. The Democratic party has rapidly shifted to the left on a significant number of social policies, but the far left members are not satisfied. A combination of missteps, lack of cohesive messaging, and a significant leftward shift has torpedoed their electoral prospects. The US is a center-right nation, but the Democrats have deluded themselves into believing that Millenials are actually going to vote, and that leftist politics are the way to motivate them.

The Dems had a massive lead on the generic ballot and a ton of momentum. They've squandered most of that, and Trump along with the GOP have been able to fire up their own base by denouncing Mueller's investigation as a witch hunt, and by pushing wedge social issues that the Democrats keep taking the bait on.

Mistrust of the media is near or at a record high, and partisanship shouts down anyone that dates oppose Trump's actions or the far-left takeover of the Democratic Party. The mid-terms are going to either keep the GOP in power or or give the Dems threadbare control of the House. They've got no shot at the Senate at this point. Unless something major happens, and it would have to be astoundingly huge and significant, that's what is going to take place. That means no impeachment and no chance for the rule of law to hold the powerful and the corrupt accountable.

I wish I could be optimistic, but our country is screwed. It's been apparent for awhile that America is in decline, but the past couple of years have hastened our demise. We'll still be prosperous and have a significant amount of international power, but we'll no longer be the sole superpower. It is anyone's guess if that means China becomes the sole superpower or if China and the US both share a role slightly less important and powerful than true superpower status. This didn't start with or because of Trump, but it accelerated the process. A sad world for my children to grow up in. But, hey, if it triggers the libs it must have been worthwhile. Because that's all that matters, right?

While I enjoy your analysis, I feel like it's a bit too embellished to accurately depict the assumptions that were made. I believe that even though the GOP can try and defend Trump or discredit Mueller, the American people will ultimately flee from Trump. You're right, the GOP is associated with him and nothing they do will change that. But I credit the populous more, they will see past the cherade and come next major election cycle the Trump "team" will have poor support.
Also while the Democrats have an annoying cyst you call the far-left, you seemingly ignore the far-right cyst. Equally as damaging to the GOP and equally as vocal. This far-right group is certainly empowering the far-left and left, just as the far-left group empowers the far-right and right.

Also the delusion that US can maintain it's supreme "superpower" status is absurd. The left wing radicals ditched that prospect over a decade ago...

If the poplace feels the economy is well and no major recession hits, Trump will roll to victory in 2020. The GOP would be idiots to turn against him right now and they know it.

Funny how the Trump admin doesn't have time to comment on Roseanne's comments regarding Valerie Jarrett. Yet, he somehow found time to call her personally regarding the ratings and thanked her for her support. Listen, Valerie Jarrett has A LOT of less than desirable political stances, but how about taking issue with those? Why am I not shocked someone as repugnant as Roseanne Barr (who has a long history of anti-Catholic and Anti-Semitic vitrol) make racist comments? And why am I not shocked someone who uses disgusting personal attacks has Trump's unwavering support?
