Severe WX March 26th-27th, 2023

The area north and northeast of Meridian, MS, ought to watch out for potential spin-up tornadoes over the next half-hour or more!

Less than ten minutes. Waiting on it to get closer to see if it’s coming this way first.
Thank you! Can anyone with a good radar app tell me if those cells under me are showing rotation?

At this exact moment the ones most likely to head our way are not showing any significant rotation. In this environment that can change very quickly -- in the space of a radar scan or two.

Remember, the tornado threat is not the only hazard. High winds and large hail are also occurring. Thunderstorm winds cause a lot more damage than people sometimes realize.

One of the cells most likely to come our way is now warned with 60mph+ winds and ping pong size hail.

See this is the point where you could have a strong tornado heading to Camden but you have such a high beam height you wouldn't be able to tell if it was on the ground unless it was lifting debris high.

Aggravating but I digress.. has a warning on it so that's going for it.

I thought the established practice had been to move away from things that vary in size (fruit) and use things that are standard size (coins, balls, etc.)

I think additional modernization and updates are also necessary. I wonder how many people under the age of 35 know what half-dollar size is? Just saw that in a warning. I could see a substantial number of younger people, and even the general public at large, who are not familiar with the half-dollar coin.
