Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 4/5/17-4/6/17

They're all showing it but even the NMMB that had initialized well at 0z was crap.

I can't help but wonder why the various models have been having initialization troubles lately. I hope that afterwards these issues get investigated so that the problem (hopefully) gets fixed (knock on wood!).

I'm guessing they might have ground truth on something that isn't apparent on radar. Wording is really strong.

Given the nearest radar site is either in Atlanta or Jacksonville I can understand being a bit over-zealous. That's a huge deadzone.

edit: NVM, I'M A MORON. JGX is right there.

I am not just saying this to be controversial, but KEOX and KMXX being down is absolutely criminal. Congress, the last admin, the current admin, etc should all be ashamed of themselves for not properly funding the maintenance, technicians, and parts necessary to make sure any NEXRAD that is down during a critical period can be repaired ASAP. Considering the potential property damage and risk to lives, it enrages me to know that our country with billions of dollars cannot adequately fund and maintain the WSR-88D network. There is simply no excuse. With proper funding the right amount of spare/surplus parts and technicians could be made available.

KEOX went down only 11 hours ago, probably from a lightning strike or storm damage given there was a big storm sitting right on top of it when it went out. Troubleshooting lightning damage can take a lot of time just in itself, even if spare parts and the right people are already available.

Good call on BMX moving Bham metro from moderate to enhanced and removing some of the westernmost areas from Enhanced and replacing with Slight. IMO.

I just don't see how things don't pop here in middle Tennessee with it 80 and dew point of 63

That is correct. They have parts on the way.

I haven't checked to see whether people are complaining to Spann and others that their homes haven't been destroyed by a tornado today. I'm sure it's coming!
Seriously. People complaining that the perceived "Forecasted Convective Amplification Deficiency" didn't produce tornadoes. God forbid your house doesn't get blown to smithereens!

yeah that broad rotation damage with no reports of a tornado despite multiple chasers on the storm, that ghostnado i guess.

Look, when an EMA Director is reporting confirmed damage, you continue the warning. I couldn't careless if you consider the rotation broad, or jim bob storm chaser doesn't see it. That's just the way it is. In fear of cluttering the thread, this is all I'll say on the matter.
