I was a spring chicken of 35, had a 14 year old and was a wx geek with no outlet. I found the forum through the ABC 33/40 blog, Jon Oldshue was the owner. There was a thread topic about the Super Outbreak of '74 and I wanted to ask questions and discuss and the rest is history!
Now I'm 50 (OHHH!!!) my daughter is almost 30 with two kids....I'm a Memaw and still a weather geek. TalkWeather has given me the opportunity to meet so many people that I respect in the weather community, plus I've gained tons of knowledge and made lifelong friends. It's a safe and family oriented atmosphere.
Although it's changed hands a few time, died once for a while, it has come back stronger and better than ever! Thank you Wes!!
Plus thanks to my fellow staffers, Jack (who kept TW running for years), Mike, Brent, Tyler and Stormstalker......I count most of you as good friends and y'all are hilarious to work with!!
A big thanks to the TalkWeather members, we appreciate your patience and for coming back, I'm excited about the new members and appreciate our mets that take time to post their opinions and answer our questions and props to those that learned on their own about the science of weather and have amazing knowledge to share!!

That is pretty impressive considering the forum is 17 years old this year. (I double checked lol) This place wouldn't be the same without ya!

Thank you Wes!! I was wondering how old the forum truly was, I'd heard there was a version in 1999 but I'm not sure if that was accurate...

Congratulations and Happy 15th Forum-Versary Lori!! I joined sometime during 2002 but think it was few days after the November 10, 2002 tornado outbreak

I'm just anxious to find out which of the staff members you don't regard as good friends. I'm betting that it's Jack - that guy is a royal pain in the cumulonimbus.

LOLOL!! I don't know Stormstalker or the guy Wes brought in to help....I don't hate em though!!
Jack can definitely be a pain, we just try to placate him by letting him sing to us now and then, it calms his wild soul, plus he's a good singer!

Perry, I think a lot of us joined in 2002, there was a promising snow event in Jan 2002, that's when Nathan said he joined....of course, I joined to discuss the '74 outbreak, I think there was a pretty good influx of new members from 2002-2004...

Lori keeps me laughing especially with her search for a place in her house with little or no movement. LOL
