Pitino to Alabama would put my basketball fandom on hiatus until he's gone. He's scum of the earth and the University can find someone better to lead a group of 18-22 year old young men.

Best news so far, regardless of who the next Alabama coach will be, is that Dazon Ingram is transferring.

Thad Matta appears to be the leading candidate as of now that Byrne shut down any Pitino rumors.

I'm iffy on him. He has a history of success but sputtered late at Ohio State and has been out of the game for a little bit now. If we're going for the splashy hire that ain't really it..

If Thad Matta is 100% healthy, he's the best coach available and by far the biggest splash hire. His issues with his health was why he sputtered late at OSU.

Being 100% recovered from back issues is a big IF though.

Thad Matta's resume, minus his final two years where he had significant health issues.

He'd been a head coach 14 years. In those 14 years, he had
  • 13 NCAA Tournament Appearances (Won the NIT in the other year)
  • 6 Sweet 16s
  • 4 Elite 8s
  • 2 Final Fours (1 National Runner Up)
  • 299-94 record (.761% Winning Record)
If he's not fully healthy, I don't think he's worth the risk. But if he is, he's the absolute best coach available.

Matta currently lives in Las Vegas and has been heavily rumored for the UNLV job.

I wonder if the reason it hasn't happened yet is because he has been holding out for a P5 gig???

Buffalo has been one of the stronger programs in the MAC for a few years but it’s debatable how much of that is Oats’ doing and how much of it is him inheriting an already successful program from Bobby Hurley (who’s at Arizona State now).

I see so many of the Bama basketball players are committed to UA. They're dropping like flies. This explains how IDGAF attitude this team displayed on the regular.
