Severe Weather Threat May 16-18, 2026

Crashing cold front you say?

NWS Des Moines' latest forecast discussion still play up the flooding issue a lot more than the severe weather and tornadoes.

I'm guessing the 2024 floods after the pretty rough 2024 tornado season in Iowa is still in their memory.

So, what's the message here? Is this just mainly an open jab to get some likes.

If it's something I did wrong(and it means the world to you) a private DM would work wonders.

Has nothing to do with getting "likes." Just a request if you're going to make a post that consists entirely of a tweet embed, maybe glance through the thread and make sure the same or nearly identical content hasn't been posted before. Thanks.

Wxtwitter is hyped up about this event. We get it. I have no idea who "TRGTornado" is or if their opinion means anything.

I can tell you as a WXtwt lurker that past actual meteorologists, most of them have extremely poor knowledge of what they're talking about.

Initial Day 3 for Monday is out. Stays at Enhanced; all-hazards CIG2 covers central Kansas into far southeastern Nebraska.

I’m not doing this to get likes, but thoughtless, low effort crossposting to here from Twitter of random users’ thoughts on a set up are generally pointless.

Storms packed a bit of a punch across southern WI overnight. Several tornado warnings were issued, and a lot of small tree debris was on the roads when I headed in to work.
So, I accidentally left my windows open during those storms last night. Fortunately, I just had a little water to wipe off of my floor.

Ouch. I've left my car window cracked when I parked and forgotten it was supposed to rain later; been a while since I did that for my apartment.

It's far more effective to contact someone in private if you felt the need to call them out. It's more child like in the way you handled it.
I understand if you have issues and what to mention it , but there's a better way to handle it.

Not everyone goes by your rules. It would help if stuff like that was brought up to the user in private and or already have set established rules (by the mods) to guide new and even older users.

Also, it's not like this thread as been kicking it. Stuff like that would make more sense during a major outbreak while a thread was popping off. I really don't see an issue with a thread that is going super-slow. But, that's just me.

Not everyone understands also what someone on here might and might not like. Unless it's specifically stated somewhere in the rules

That’s fine, but this thread is pretty much dead and you just cross posted something that had already been posted multiple times. If it’s so slow, did you not see it already was posted?

There is no rule against it, I agree, but this is TalkWeather forum, and not “Talk WxTwitter”
