SPC Outlook Changes March 2 2026

I've talked to one of my friends about this very thing if TV mets showed it on air. I would just keep it simple with you are in a hatched risk for such and such without going into depth. I wouldn't even add or say the word conditional on air. Because imagine you are the viewer and hear the words "we are in a conditional hatched tornado risk". I mean I'm still gonna treat it as a significant hatch area even though it won't actually be called that.
Yeah, I think the way that broadcast mets would convey it is "in this area is where we are most concerned about the possibility for strong tornadoes." It'll help them zero in on intensity risk areas independent of the numerical risk.

One hour until this is implemented.

A little over half an hour until this is (actually, this time) implemented. I'd watch the D3 outlook as that is the only one on the board as of now that is currently hatched.

I think the outlook colors are the same, just a higher resolution map and a legend as opposed to labeling the contours.
Hmm. The marginal region looked way more green than usual, but I guess it's just the way the map itself looks:

Still not up on the main convective outlooks page, but the Fire Weather outlook has the new graphics. Very snazzy, I like it - especially considering the basemap for the outlooks has basically been unchanged since the early 2000s.

Is it just me or does the website look like this?

I very much expect some hiccups over the next few days as they implement it - I remember similar problems when they changed the MCD format. The CIG contour isn't showing up on the D3 either, but is still there in the actual forecast.
