This precip seems way ahead of schedule - regardless of whether or not it's reaching the ground.....
Yeah I'm real curious if there's any ground true with that northeast Lousianna stuff

Something like 8 hours looks like to me. NWS is calling for 8 am and this looks like it'll hit AL at midnight.
Given current trends, this looks to surprise a lot

Lake Charles at 18z HRRR, forecasted a 0z temp/dewpoint of 36/11. At 0z, it initialized at 36/14. The actual observed 0z sounding from Lake Charles was 36/18. So the moisture is over performing so far, at least at the surface. The RH in the DGZ still very low, though.

The radar returns last time arrived well ahead of the actual snow. So don't get too excited. That's just west of midway b/t LAs top part.

The returns north of Jackson MS are moving due NE. I know it's probably not reaching the ground, but I like the direction/movement....

Indeed they are. I'm too old to stay up all night watching it come in so I'll see you all tomorrow morning.
Water vapor telling the story. The 700mb frontogensis has pacific moisture....the gulf low has GOM moisture. It's a battle of timing and high suppression. If the pacific moisture and 700mb front is able to pull up GOM moisture, game on.

Some light snow falling here in Alexandria. A dusting on vehicles right now. Hopefully we end up a decent accumulation. Local meteorologist thinks 1-3 inches.

Yep, we are in the saturation phase. Surface air is dry dry, and the dry air may win. Very little is reaching the ground so far. But hey - the more returns we see, the more it means saturation is happening. That it is already showing up on Columbus surprises me somewhat.

Well moisture is moisture, and that's what we need. Next several hours will be interesting. We get an actual fix on the low position yet? Movement/direction?
