Enhanced risk? Had to pull this one out...

When they underperform, days with high ceilings and low floors always have these conversations occur, partly due to the fact that a lot of armchair forecasters/meteorologists (and even some legit ones, like Reed) hype the event up as if the high ceiling is guaranteed to happen. It’s my biggest gripe with Reed because I really do love the guy, he’s a hilarious personality and an absolute legend among storm chasers for all he has done, but he really needs to calm down on some of his predictions, lol.

I would imagine it’s mostly people who are quite young that end up acting like this, or people who for god-knows-what reason who hope outbreaks end up being the worst case scenario. While it is pretty funny to see random clowns on twitter melt down about how the SPC “failed” because an MOD didn’t produce 15 violent tornadoes and 3 EF5s, at the end of the day I see it as a genuinely really bad thing. The vocal minority tends to reach the average layman quite easily and can distort their view of the situation, especially in something as potentially devastating as a tornado outbreak. It’s honestly infuriating to me.

(Sorry I keep going off on tangents. This is the last one I promise).
