Ready for a long, hot summer!

Could have below average temps for the first week or two in June.

And since the Atlantic Hurricane Season starts on June 1st, let's look at the little tropical "system" the GFS tries to form in the western Gulf this weekend (even though this isn't the tropical weather forum). However, it goes away pretty fast.

Finally had our first decent thunderstorm of the year last night/early this morning. Started off with just some really distant lightning, but it picked up a bit around 1 a.m.

I've had over 12" since the beginning of May to today, and more rain will be falling today. Really want some dry weather and heat.

Whatever happened to widely scattered pop up showers?!?

Just dipped to 49º.

Ahhh. Summer in the mountains. :)

It's been storming for about an hour now. One severe warning just expired and another was issued until 10:00. Just had a pretty close CG lightning strike... wouldn't be surprised to hear about a tree getting split in town tomorrow.

Edit: and now 30 minutes later I'm experiencing the most pathetic hailstorm I've ever seen... not that that's a bad thing.

Spent the day on lake Oconee yesterday fishing.... Applied spf 30 many times and still got roasted on my legs and face. I will never understand folks that sunbathe or set out in the baking sun and heat!!! Rant over back my spot next to the ac vent!!!

There was some wind damage today in north Alabama and no severe t-storm watch in effect when the line came through.

Friday nite 9:20pm.Strong bow echo pushing through Mississippi this evening. Radar Scope shows winds as high as 80 mph at some locations. Don't know how far off the ground the beam is. System is moving S/SE. Parts of lower western Alabama could be affected later. The system will likely weaken before then.

Wed (6/28/17) Iowa having a relative out break of tornadoes late this afternoon. (don't remember what officially qualifies as an outbreak) At 6pm CST there are 3 separate areas of rotation, with at least 2 confirmed tornadoes. All the action is south of Des Moines . Reed Timmer intercepted a healthy tornado around Des Moines earlier.
