I remember waking up the morning after Andrew watching the aerial footage on the Today Show. That scene is still seared in my memory after all these years. So hard to believe a similar scene is likely unfolding in the Panama City area - a place that holds so many family memories for many of us who live in the South. Just trying to process the reality of it.
Technically a high-end Cat 4 but you might as well say Cat 5 with the destruction that will be caused. Pressure lower than Andrew...praying for all in its path.
The last few radar scans look like the center has jogged slightly west. This may be an illusion caused by increased/thickening precipitation bands on the West side of the center.

This is the most helpless time of a hurricane from a human perspective. You know people are struggling to survive a life-threatening real-time situation and there is absolutely nothing the rest of us can do (except pray). It feels like sitting in the hospital waiting room while a family member has major surgery. Such a helpless feeling.
