They were in the eye. Expecting the back side soon. They're watching a building that was flexing earlier - they are thinking the back side winds will take the roof off. It was definitely "breathing" earlier - you could see the roof flexing upwards a foot or two. Not sure the southern eyewall will have that power though.

Looks like the biggest surge stayed East of Lake Charles as the easterly wobbles put the city directly under the circulation.

But the wind damage is extensive and catastrophic.

I’ve seen wind instrumentation reports of 130-140mph gusts before failure in Lake Charles. That is similar to instrumentation during Hurricane Michael. Will be interesting to see reanalysis once the season is over if we get the cat 5 bump.

Let's just hope that this is the only one, not the only obvious one:

Looks like some of the building code updates they did after Hurricane Rita made some structures able to withstand stronger storms in Holly Beach.

while there is considerable damage, it appears that most structures aren’t wiped clean from the slab like post-Rita.

Some of the stuff I’m reading about Cameron/Hackberry area of Louisiana sounds bad. It’s second hand info from someone who it on the ground there but sounds...bad.
