College Football 2017 Season

Reports circulating Daboll isn't a big fan of the college level and is mulling a return to the NFL.. not sure what to think about this. I was mixed on him for most of the season but his offense took off once he finally got a QB who's a downfield threat under center.

The reports are related to Patricia & McDaniel likely getting head coaching jobs. Daboll is close to both of them. Patricia apparently has been offered the Detroit job and is a leading candidate for the Giants job. There is a chance Detroit will keep Jim Bob Cooter as OC though.

Like I said several posts back, expect a big staff overhaul. I think Saban wants some fresh ideas thrust into the program. I like the move as long as we keep the high level of recruiting.

Saban is a coach most willing to change and remain dynamic. He isn't static.

Klatt is obsessed with Bama and the SEC.

Where there's smoke, there's fire...

He isn't a good recruiter or OC at all. Promote Locksley or bring in Dan Enos. He and Saban are on really good terms.

I'm ho-hum on Dan Enos. His offenses at Arkansas really underwhelmed me at times. Locksley would be an okay hire but his track record isn't stellar, but if Saban thinks he's the man for the job I'll support him.

Where there's smoke, there's fire...

This is one of two hires I will not support with any fiber of my being. The other one being Art Briles..

I'm hearing Mike Shula's name getting tossed around.. that would definitely be an interesting one.

I will admit, he did a very good job as an OC with Carolina and he could do good things with the personnel here.. but would he be willing to return to Alabama, to work under the man who replaced him nonetheless? He did also burn some bridges on the way out and the fanbase might not be too thrilled to welcome him back with open arms..

That, and he's a hands off CEO type.. Saban is not. He will be on the receiving end of MANY of Saban's famous a** chewings..

There's a lot of bad blood between the Shula family and Alabama/Saban. Don was scorned twice in that move, his Dolphins losing its coach after 2 years to replace his son. I have no clue if that's been resolved but I'd be surprised if it has.

Problem is...I don't know how we keep Locksley (one of our top recruiters) if he doesn't get the OC position. It's a complicated set up for Saban.
