On this date 20 years ago, Katrina was also quite the inland tornado producer over Alabama and Georgia with the outer bands. I remember one tornado in Georgia from Katrina killed over 2,000 chickens at a chicken house.

A storm chaser was driving on the same road as the man pulling his trailer and actually captured the moment his vehicle was swept off the highway. While not extremely graphic, it's definitely sad and chilling to know the guy didn't make it.

One of very few tornado videos (two others being Pecos Hank's Katie video and the Clem Schultz Rochelle footage) I know of that actually shows the moment the tornado impacted a known fatality site (or vehicle, in this case).

And another notable TC anniversary today.

OTD 90 years ago, the Labor Day Hurricane made its historic landfall near Long Key, Florida. It is the strongest Atlantic hurricane landfall on record, with official stats of 160kt/892mb, but I am of the opinion that it holds the worldwide records for wind and pressure at landfall, along with the coveted accolade of the Strongest Atlantic Hurricane; my stats at landfall are ~175kt/~875mb.
