Today is also the 35th anniversary of Plainfield.
Dammit you got to it before I could. But yeah.

OTD 35 years ago, the unwarned F5: Plainfield.

And another notable TC anniversary today.

OTD 90 years ago, the Labor Day Hurricane made its historic landfall near Long Key, Florida. It is the strongest Atlantic hurricane landfall on record, with official stats of 160kt/892mb, but I am of the opinion that it holds the worldwide records for wind and pressure at landfall, along with the coveted accolade of the Strongest Atlantic Hurricane; my stats at landfall are ~175kt/~875mb.
