Keesler Air Force base on the Mississippi Gulf Coast dispersed all of its aircraft in less than 48 hours when Hurricane Katrina's track shifted west a few hundred miles in a 12-24 hour period. Obviously, the rest of the government's response to that disaster was dismal...Mattis and Trump need to answer for the F-22s damaged/lost at Tyndall. Shameful that there wasn't a contingency plan to get them trucked out before the hurricane. Hurricanes happen on the Gulf Coast. How does our readiness and preparation not involve a plan to move extremely expensive and important aircraft when threatened by a high-end Hurricane???
Overall, the base was devastated with close to $1 billion in damage but that did not include any aircraft.
