It is with a very heavy heart we pass on the new that veteran storm chaser and former TW member Michael Wilhelm has passed away at his home. Mike, who also ran bamawx.com, was an amazing person who not only lived for the thrill of the chase but a heart for the people who were impacted by severe weather. I only met him one time after a chase in northern Madison County, AL. We had a great time talking about the storms we had seen that day and the storms of yesteryear. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

Felt it fitting to post Mike's 7/27/11 video from Tuscaloosa. I know it was one of his most treasured chase days.

He was praying and concerned for the people of Tuscaloosa....

Very sad to hear.. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the US space & rocket center and he was a nice respectful fellow. This is an unfortunate loss for the weather community.

Mike took me on my first storm chase and introduced me to other chasers who became dear friends. He was a wonderful man who loved the Lord, his sons, Alabama football and weather. He had a caring heart and giving spirit. I am going to miss my friend. :(

So sorry to hear about this. I didn't know of him but apparently many of you did and my prayers are with those that loved him. Very tragic... had he been ill?

Very sad to hear this, and my prayers are with Mike's family and loved ones.

Not to intrude on privacy, but had he been sick or was this sudden?

It is my understanding that he had been sick.
