The team at at Arizonia State University that manages the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) have announced they have found the failed Chandrayaan 2 Vikram lander. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) lost contact with their lander as it was in the process of landing on the moon on Sept 7, 2019. The LROC team imaged the site a little over a week later and provided the images to the world to help identify the possible crash site. One of those internet searchers, Shanmuga Subramanian, found a possible site and relayed it to the LROC team who worked with the ISRO to verify with additional pictures of the site.
Truly sad to see India come so far and be so close to a successful landing. Hoping they make another attempt in the near future and glad they finally have some extra information to work with.
