I've owned two weather stations that lost one or more functions in less than 4 years. The first one was an Ambient and the second one was an Acurite. In both cases the maker suggested I buy a new one to replace theirs that stopped working. Is there any reasonably priced weather station (<$500) that will stand up to working for a reasonable time? (>5 years)

All I can offer is this: The National Hurricane Center does not (or didn't) recognize wind speed reports as verified accurate unless they were from a Davis Bros or Peet instrument. Could be changed now so maybe look at what they have to say on the matter.
