It's going to be practically impossible for Dems to get this right. Too fast and it's unjustified political grandstanding, not thorough enough.
Too slow and it's a drawn out uninteresting mess.
I don't envy having to be a politician right now.

Still I think they've cut a pretty acceptable balance of hearing arguments and moving forward - for government standards.

Why has whoever offered him monetary assistance not been indicted yet!?

I think my favorite part of the day is that Labrov got an oval office meeting today. Zelensky did not.

Senate is planning on holding a quick vote to acquit Donald Trump.

I think this is a bad move. First, it shows the senate republicans are blindly following trump. Second, if the polls are correct, this thing is hurting the Dems as it draws out. This should make them want to go slower and take the time to prove their case.

"Imagine with me, if a Republican governor seriously suggested calling up the National Guard and sending them into Sanctuary Cities to force them to comply with immigration law, what would be the media reaction?

Outrage, right? Total and complete freak-out, guaranteed. End of the world as we know it.

Now compare that to the real-life media non-reaction to a Democrat governor suggesting he'll call up the National Guard to send them into Sanctuary counties to force them to comply with gun bans.

And only one of these governors wore racist blackface or Klan robes to a party, and it wasn't the imaginary one."

Edit: I went back and checked and I don’t think this is a parody account. I still can’t tell if he was joking or not.

I can't believe the democrats are so inefficient as this.

There is only one question to ask: Are you ok with a sitting president soliciting another country for dirt on a political rival?

It's not in dispute that is what Trump did.

Sounds like the new talking point will be that impeachment is such a witchhunt that Jeff Van Drew left the Democratic Party in disgust to become a Republican. I'm sure the fact that less than 25% of Democrats in New Jersey have a favorable opinion of him -- or want to see him re-elected -- has nothing to do with his decision. I wonder if anyone who can actually see or hear will believe the latest spin and gaslighting meant to defend Trump from being held responsible for his actions and behavior surrounding the Biden/Ukraine scandal.

I'd like to think most people in touch with reality would see Van Drew's actions as the nakedly political career promotion it is, but considering even people like Will Hurd have given themselves up over impeachment, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I've long admired Justin Amash for being willing to tell the truth about both Trump and the radical Democrats in Congress, but at this point he's a lonely voice in the wilderness.

Our Congress is seemingly accountable and fearful of everyone from big business, lobbyists, radical activists, and the leadership of their party, but the one group they're not scared of (not accountable to) is the American people. I think our country is headed for further division and even more bitter partisanship. Hopefully the ramifications of all of that are quickly visible and the American People force a major change to our current political system and structure. I fear, however, that too much damage will be done before that happens. In a way, it couldn't be more fitting that Donald Trump ends up being the person who led our country into complete political and social bankruptcy.

Fox News poll showing half the nation wants trump removed from office. Horrible numbers for the president. Holding steady.

I recall the outrage that a previous president was overstepping his executive privilege, power grabbing and acting like a dictator. It's no surprise those who said it are defensive about authoritarianism today and the same rhetoric is now shouted from the opposite side. Outrageous partisanship going on and it will be our downfall of things don't reorganize towards the center in the near future.
We have the ability to communicate with each other faster and easier than ever before and things are increasingly polarized. Hopefully equilibrium will show itself soon.
