Severe Weather Threat May 16-18, 2026

I can't even see a flippin CC drop on that! WTH!

Tornado Emergency issued for Pawnee City, Nebraska!
Another premature issuance here. I know we are a long ways from radar and the velocity suggests that a high-end tornado may be about to occur, but CC hasn’t dropped yet on any radar site that I can find. I don’t get the issuance when you don’t have substantial evidence of an intense to violent tornado is occuring on radar and/or have a credible chaser with video evidence showing one if we consider the radar hole this is in.

I mean for goodness sakes use the Tornado Reported Warning instead of going full throttle

Another nudger interaction, maybe this one will do it despite the weak LLJ.
The forcing aloft thanks to the jet streak being so far back is definitely helping these storms from going upscale too fast, ironically though that’s why the LLJ is weak in the first place.

It's not even 5 pm yet. The highest risk was always going to be between 6 and 9 pm. I understand a level of skepticism but can we please not call a FCAD until after the event is over?
But the highest risk was only going to be 6-9 if things remained discrete, which seems highly, highly unlikely now.
