Site Issues - 4/5 - 4/13

Show me a forum that has never had technical issues, and I'll show you a forum that has about 20 members and has been live for 6 months
It's not necessarily the fact that the forum itself has technical issues - that is to be expected; no site is perfect! The issue, however, is that it seems like nothing is being done about it, to the point where it's basically non-functional. And when it's pointed out, the moderators take a defensive stance instead of just saying "yes, there are issues, we will be fixing them shortly" and then following through on that. There's nothing personal about it; I just think people are losing patience. And again - I have nothing personal against any moderators here, as y'all generally do great work.

I'm like everyone else here - I love this site (I really do, despite some past... incidents)! I would gladly re-subscribe to be a sustaining member. In fact, for a while I kept my membership specifically to help with the issues that have been ongoing since at least last year. Now, however, it doesn't seem like my money was going anywhere useful, and I was basically paying for a dumpster fire. Just my two-cents. And I know $5 a month doesn't really seem like a lot but it's the merit that matters - I am giving my money to help something become functional, but why should I stay subscribed if nothing is changing?

I'm not of a technical mind, so I am no help. I haven't had any contact with Wes behind the scenes while this was going on because A) I have nothing to offer and B) It was obvious by his postings on here that it was complicated and being addressed but wasn't going to be a quick fix.

Was the length of time frustrating? Sure. I bet no one was more frustrated than the guy who pays the bills to keep the lights on here.

Also, don't forget there were a couple of weather events that dictated how the process was handled. We certainly didn't want to go offline for those if at all possible.

It could be worse, like the person who handles the technical side of things just completely ghost the board owner during a major crash with no replies, responses, etc., leaving the owner with nothing but a useless URL he owns and no website for people to have these discussions.

The "members online" box no longer functions properly; you are unable to hover over or click most member profiles for some reason. Not sure if it's just a me issue .

It is working for me. Have you tried again?

Works for me too.
(though I don't have anything more to add, the stupid minimum word count for a post has reared it's ugly head again and made me write more. Now lets see if the "me too" freaking posts )

@Kds86z and @KakashiHatake2000 - Think I figured it out. Try again. I didn't get any errors on either of my test accounts.
@TH2002

I think the same issue was causing issue with the unfurl feature. I'm on my phone but should be around my computer tomorrow morning.

Went ahead and cleared out the logs as well. Check with Grand and see if he can get in

This site was and is SO close to taking off. I can feel it, and daily active user counts seem to show it. I just hope everyone's access can be restored and we can put this whole mess behind us. These are growing pains. Simple as that. The correct response isn't to cut off our own feet. Clashes like this are going to happen when you have a community as passionate as this one. However, that passion is what is going to grow this website into something special. I know both Admins and users are fed up with each other, but we're both on the same team, even when it doesn't seem that way.

My heated comments were just putting feelings into words. It's important to know how the community is feeling, because even if it isn't out in the open, it's still there. I shouldn't have said a lot of the things I said, and for that I'm sorry. There's definitely a balance though, because the contained boil is more dangerous than the open one. If users are afraid to speak up, it'll just lead to bigger explosions.

Anyways, that's what i've been thinking the last few days. I hope i'm not digging a deeper hole here, but damn I just want to see this place thrive and I really believe it can. Sooner or later we're going to hit that super steep upward curve on the exponential scale.
