A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for middle Tennessee. Also, a Wake Low might be developing behind the line in northern Mississippi.

Could be some considerable damage from the Mineral Wells tornado

Any more information on the tornado from N AR last night? I find it a little unusual that we've heard essentially nothing about damage and impact. I saw that one post earlier about the felled trees from terrain induced intensification but little else on it.

I mentioned earlier that it may have been a Barnsdall-esque event but if all of the damage looks like this, it probably was just a true bust.

Also I feel like the idea of it lofting things high might have been overstated considering how wooded this part of Arkansas is, getting a CC drop is a fair bit easier than somewhere like the plains.

James Spann is not impressed with a severe weather risk east of I-65 in Alabama tonight with cooler than forecasted temperatures today.

Could be wrong but looks like a wake low with gravity waves on GWX at the moment. Strong winds entering Alabama

Any reason why NWS Memphis removed parts of their CWA from the Tornado Watch with more storms coming from Arkansas tonight?

Seems like the storm keeps retaining an intense meso aloft, but can't keep that translated to the ground.

It produced earlier but it's been hard to know what it's doing as it is in the core of a radar hole.

The Mountain View tornado is a good reminder as to why a deep blue CC drop doesn’t equal automatic catastrophe. You often don’t know if you’re seeing airborne disintegrated houses, or just some tree debris and sheet metal roofing floating around. This is why me coming down hard on the user spewing hype-filled hyperbolic language during the Carlyle, IL tornado is not “nonsense” or an “attack”. It’s just reality and me learning to err on the side of caution after many years of me doing this. In the end, only minor to moderate damage was reported there.

Conversely, some innocuous looking signatures end up producing major damage. But generally, when **** is truly hitting the fan and lives are truly at stake, it’s often very apparent, like it was in Enid. I think some younger people come from circles (social media, Reddit, and live stream chats) where it’s the norm to whip each other up into a frenzy. Sure, I’ve been young and excitable, and I’ve been fooled by nasty looking radar signatures plenty of times, and probably will be again at some point in the near future lol. But generally that’s why it’s good to reserve that kind of language (“life threatening” “cataclysmic” etc) for situations where it’s very apparent that it’s the real deal, like Enid, rather than a QLCS spinup likely just hitting barns and trees.
